Ray Pershall

March 12, 1933 — April 5, 2015

Ray was born on March 12, 1933 in Pawnee County, OK to Bud and Oney Pershall. He graduated from High School at Velma, OK in 1952 where he also married his high school sweetheart, Wilma Carson on December 13, 1952. They have celebrated 62 years of marriage together. Ray worked for Kerr-McGee Oil Corp for 39 years, retiring on January 1, 1995. Upon retirement, he and Wilma enjoyed traveling in their motorhome throughout the country. He enjoyed spending time with his family, putting together puzzles and was known to be a vicious card player. He and Wilma moved to Amarillo 2 years ago, where they attended Arden Road Baptist Church. They were active at Country Estates, serving on the Pot Luck Committee and hosting breakfasts and gatherings. Most importantly, Ray knew our Lord Jesus Christ and was ready to go home. He desired for his family to know his Lord and join him in Heaven where he waits to greet them. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Pershall of Amarillo; daughter, Sherry Wingate and husband Frank of Canyon; 2 sons, Richard Pershall and wife Suzanne of Golden, CO and Tony Pershall and wife Sheila of Rifle, CO; sister, Clela Manlove of Idaho and brother, Danny Pershall; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 3 nieces and a nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Because of Ray's passionate love of children, the family suggests memorial contributions be mailed to Buckner's Foster Care of Amarillo: 1422 S. Tyler, STE 100, Amarillo, TX 79101.
