R.C. was born on July 25, 1931 in Amarillo to Charles and Alice Miller. He was raised in Amarillo, attending Amarillo High School before being drafted by the United States Army. He proudly served over 2 years during the Korean Conflict. Upon discharge, R.C. returned to Amarillo, where he married Mildred Dunn on August 2, 1959. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone, which later became AT&T as a PBX installer for over 37 years. After retirement, R.C. enjoyed having coffee at Henry D's each morning with his coffee buddies. He had an extensive collection of pocket knives collected throughout the years, loved attending the annual Make-a-Wish chili cookoffs and was sometimes known to be stubborn by his friends and family. Above all, R.C. loved his family. He cherished time spent with them and especially loved cooking and being with his great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Miller of Amarillo; daughter Becky Beard and husband Benny of Amarillo; 3 grandchildren, Shonda Houston and husband John of Indiana, Jennifer Montgomery of Amarillo and Kim Akins and husband Jay of Amarillo and 8 great grandchildren, Bentley, Courtney, Carleigh, Landon, Danniel, Ashlyn, Kinley and L.J.; sister, Nadine Le Clert of Amarillo as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 siblings, Carl Miller, Lorene Bruce, Rachel Wedding and Pauline Phipps.
