Reginald "Reggie" Layfatte Davis

Reggie was born on October 20, 1954 in Amarillo to W.L. "Dub" and Rowena Davis. He attended Sanborn Elementary, James Bowie Jr. High and graduated from Caprock High School in 1973, where he was later honored as a member of its Distinguished Alumni. Reggie graduated from the 33rd Police Academy in 1973 and served as a patrolman for the City of Amarillo. He left the police department to attend Georgetown University in Washington D.C., where he graduated Valedictorian, one out of 500 in 1978. He then attended Universidad Ibero Americana School of Law in Mexico City, where he graduated with highest honors. He then attended Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Mass where he attained a Master's Degree in Law. Reggie then practiced law and instructed law. Throughout his career, Reggie wrote over 60 published articles and books in Mexico and the United States. He was known for his unsurpassed intelligence and kind heart to match. He is survived by his wife, Maria del Carmen Millan de Davis of Saltillo, MX; daughter, Maria Cristina Davis Millan and husband Karim Mendez de la Barrera of Mexico City, MX; daughter, Jacqueline Regina Davis Millan of New York City; granddaughter, Sofia Daniela Mendez Davis; sister, Patricia Smith and husband John Smith of Amarillo; brothers, Phillip Altman and wife Sandy of Longview, Steve Davis and wife Tina of Amarillo, and David Davis and wife Crystal of Amarillo and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins of the United States and Mexico who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his Father, W.L. "Dub" Davis, Jr. and mother, Rowena Pearl Davis.
