Richard Cain

Richard Cain, 77, of Amarillo passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 19, 2018 at Lamount Baptist Church with Pastor Glen Switzer officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Cox Funeral Home. Richard was born on June 5, 1940 in Kelton to James and Mattie Cain. He moved to Amarillo at the age of 15, where he graduated from Amarillo High School in 1959. He married Laverne Shaffer on August 22, 1964 in Amarillo. Richard worked many jobs throughout the years, including working for Alright parking, which he later owned and operated; Mrs. Baird's Bakery, the Globe News and Plains Dairy. The most fulfilling of all was serving as a foster parent. In his free time, he enjoyed working in his yard and tending to his pets. Others would describe him as being sacrificial and selfless, the type that would do anything for others. Richard is survived by his wife, Laverne Cain of Amarillo; 3 sons, Tracy Cain and wife Danelle of Austin, Trevor Cain and wife Sandy and Tony Cain, all of Amarillo; sister, Alma Hickenbottom of Amarillo; grandchildren, Amy Kellison and husband Corbin of Floydada, Jenna Decker of Dallas, Joshua Cain and wife Rebekah of San Angelo, Rebekah Cain of Austin, Tanner Cain and wife Graham of Amarillo, Zachary Cain and fiance Maryah of Dalhart, Emilee Cain of Austin, Johnny Cain of Amarillo, Caleb Cain of Austin, Oscar Cain of Amarillo and Amy Cain of Salt Lake City, UT and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 8 siblings.
