Richard Eugene Kirby

Richard E. Kirby, 77, of Amarillo passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017. The family will have private services at a later date. Richard was born on May 1, 1940 in Hollis, OK to Barney and Dorma Kirby. He was raised in Oklahoma, where he graduated from Arnett High School. He proudly enlisted in the United States Army in 1962, serving until his honorable discharge in 1964. Upon discharge, he enlisted in the National Guard, where he served until 1966. Richard worked as a truck driver for over 50 years at Save a Stop, McLean Grocery and Walmart. He enjoyed riding horses, watching westerns and reading Louis Lamour books. Richard is survived by his daughter, Christina Ulen and husband Marty; 2 brothers, Fred Kirby and wife Paula and Mike Kirby; 3 sisters, Marcella McClane and husband Gene, Dorothy Cummins and Carolyn Sue Grant and husband James; grandson, Christopher Kennedy and 3 great grandchildren, Kade, Maxx and Bane Kennedy, all of Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his parents.
