Richard "Mac" Mcfarland

Richard “Mac” McFarland, 80, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday January 3, 2024 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Celebration of Life Services will follow, starting at 3:00 PM Wednesday at the Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Richard was born April 26, 1943 in Amarillo, Texas to Mack and Evelyn McFarland. He graduated from Amarillo High School. He married the love of his life, Jane Entrekin on January 25, 1964. He and Jane enjoyed 59 years of marriage, until her passing in November of 2023.

Richard worked for Whittenburg Gas & Oil, Greater Southwest, and JV Industrial, retiring in 2015. Richard was an entertainer at heart and a man of many hobbies. He traveled with the Harlem Globe-Trotters as their half-time trampoline show. He enjoyed golf, fishing and traveling, and social gatherings with his friends. He and Jane traveled all over the world, including annual trips to Cabo San Lucas. Richard could fix or build almost anything; he liked finding broken treasures and restoring them. He was an artistic craftsman, creating beautiful pieces out of wood, rock, metal and leather. He had a keen eye for finding treasures at estate sales and flea markets. Richard will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Richard fully received Jesus into his heart and was filled with hope, love and joy. His last wish was for everyone to also have Jesus in their heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jane McFarland; and a sister, Mac Elaine Elliott.

Survivors include his three children, daughter, Jolena Watson and husband Tony of Amarillo; son, Todd McFarland and wife Robin of Bushland; daughter, Leigh Ahrens and husband Chris of Amarillo; two sisters, Gina Marrale and husband Rick of Florida and Debbie Crabb and husband Tom of Dallas; one brother, Bill McFarland of Amarillo; nine grandchildren, Jerad Watson, Brandon McFarland, Kristin Watson, R.T. McFarland, Haley McFarland, Trey McFarland, Amanda Rice, SaVanah Medley and Ashleigh Hinshaw; 27 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
