Richard Charles Young

Richard was born on July 16, 1936 in Aberdeen, SD to Carl and Helen Young. He married Ruth Obermeyer on June 8, 1956. They raised their children in Minnesota before moving to Amarillo. Richard worked on the farm, raising cattle and pigs before establishing his own business, Hi-Plains Systems. He loved to golf and was a longtime member of Tascosa Country Club. He and Ruth have been devoted members of St. Mary's Catholic Cathedral for many years. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Young of Amarillo; 4 children, Tom Young and wife Janice of Amarillo, Chris Young and wife, Dawn of Amarillo, Jerry Young of Maple Plain, MN and Mary Melendez and husband Damian of Amarillo; 4 siblings, Dorothy, Duane, Ron and Jeanette; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 children, Rick, David and Bill and siblings, Don, David, Kathy and Mary.
