Rickey Lee Craven, 78, affectionately known to friends and family as "49er" or "Trickey Rickey" of Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026. Celebration of Life services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday August 10, 2026 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive with Pastor Robby Barrett officiating.
He was born on August 31, 1947 in Oklahoma and was raised in Amarillo, Texas. Rickey proudly served his country in the United States Navy, demonstrating immense bravery and dedication. His distinguished military service earned him four Bronze Stars and the National Defense Service Medal.
After his military service, Rickey spent most of his life hauling cattle across the country. He took immense pride in his work and was famous for driving the sharpest, nicest trucks on the highway. Rickey was well known as a deeply kind and generous man, though he always held his ground and loved a good fight if he was provoked. Outside of the truck, he loved casting a line while fishing, playing a competitive game of pool, darts, and cutting a rug out on the dance floor.
Rickey was preceded in death by his mother and father, Carroll and Dorothy Craven; his brother, Ernest Adams; his sister, Vicky Cargill; and his wife, Becky Craven.
He is survived by his loving wife, Deanna Craven; his five sons, James Leeland Craven, Rickey Lee Craven Jr. and wife Jennifer, Kristopher Scott Craven and wife Stephanie, Jeff Minter and wife Jamie, Jason Minter and wife Kayla; his cherished grandchildren, Keeli, Tanner, Eli, Leo, Asa, Karson, Konner, Jaydon, Barin, Gentry, Jordan and Nora; his brothers, Travis Craven and wife Lyndi, Mark Craven and wife Donna, and Christopher Scott; and many loving nieces and nephews.
