Rick Mangum

Rick Mangum, 70, of Amarillo, went to be with Jesus December 22, 2019.  Memorial service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 555 E. Hastings Avenue with Pastor Michael Carter officiating.  Rick was born May 1, 1949 in Groom to J.W. and Oma Mangum.  He graduated from Panhandle High School and married Sharon Powell in 1968 in Panhandle.  He worked for Bell Helicopter, US Bureau of Mines Helium Plant and Red Oak Ranch Apartments before his retirement in May of 2015.  Rick was an avid Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and Texas Longhorns fan.  He loved playing softball for many years.  He raised and trained quarter horses and his family knew he was the master at grooming.  He was a man of little words but he loved his family and friends and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Lorraine Pool and Lora Etta Harris.  Survivors include his wife, Sharon Mangum; his son, Monte Mangum and wife Sandra of Hillsboro; four grandchildren, Cory Mangum of Amarillo, Dakota Harbour and husband Dylan of Kansas, Oklahoma, Colten Mangum and wife Cassie of Amarillo, Cooper Mangum of Guthrie, Oklahoma; and five great grandchildren, Paislee, Rylee, Hadleigh, Caison and Wyatt.  The family suggest memorials may be made to Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 555 E. Hastings, Amarillo, Texas 79108.
