Ricky was born on November 13, 1956 in Victoria to Arthur and Mary Lou Fortier. He grew up and went to school at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch and was an Alumni. Rick was a very good athlete in school. He excelled at football and track and won outstanding wrestler at the ranch.
Rick was the most kind, caring, calmest and most honest person and a huge loss for his family and everyone who knew him. Rick never had an unkind word about anyone and no one had an unkind word about him.
Rick was a carpet layer by trade and worked for IPB for 9 years before working for Owen's Corning for 19 years, before leaving there in April 2014 to start driving trucks. Rick's hobbies were motorcycle riding, going fishing and shooting his guns. He had a large gun collection. He also enjoyed his grandkids very much.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Charles; brothers, Jerry Hall and wife Cheryl, Darrell Fortier; sister, Tony Mendez, all of Amarillo; 2 sons, Arthur Fortier and wife Debra of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Jason Fortier of Amarillo; grandchildren, Dawson Fortier, Abby Fortier, Haley Fortier, Berkley Fortier; 4 nephews and 5 nieces and many aunts and uncles and cousins.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to BSA CCU nurses, Ken Parker, Dewayne Pullen and Adrianna Villareal.
