On August 13, 2016, Robert "Bob" Elder succumbed to a long battle with cancer at his home in Amarillo, Texas. Bob was born in Pampa on February 19, 1948 to Mary Ella and Esco Dennis Elder. He graduated from Panhandle High School in 1966. He married Cheryl Lynn Chappell on September 28, 1968 in Dumas. He graduated from West Texas State University in 1972.
Bob served three months duty at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and was released to serve 7 ½ years reserve duty. He was employed by the Ruidoso Municipal School District from 1972-2000, where her taught high school shop including woodworking and metals, and was office disciplinarian the last 3 years of his career. Bob served on the Ruidoso Crime Stoppers. He loved to ride motorcycles with his wife and their friends.
Bob and Cheryl moved to Roswell, NM in 2004 where he learned a new love, metal target shooting with long rifles. He became a very good marksman and joined the Roswell Gun Club where he made many new friends. Bob had moved to Amarillo to take care of his ailing uncle.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl; his daughter, Tera Wisenbaker and husband Glenn of Kearney, Missouri; a sister, Pat Quade and husband Dean of Rule, Texas; two brothers, James "Jim" Elder and wife Karen of Seguin, Texas, and Dale Elder of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Shelby Wisenbaker, a grandson, Devon Wisenbaker, both of Kearney, Missouri.
