Robert "Bob" Elliott

Robert "Bob" Elliott, 80, of Amarillo passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018. Funeral Services will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Southwest Church of Christ. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00-8:00 on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Cox Funeral Home. Robert was born on February 21, 1937, to W. C. "Carl" and Neva "Lyle" Elliott. He was raised in Amarillo by his parents, Carl and Dollie Elliott, and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1955. He married Mac Elaine McFarland on September 22, 1956, in Amarillo. She preceded him in death on January 27, 2016. Robert worked as a carrier for the United States Post Office for over 10 years before beginning his career at Plains Chevrolet as a Warranty Administrator until retiring in 2015. Robert enjoyed life outdoors camping, fishing, gardening, and golfing. He was a longtime member of the Southwest Church of Christ, and was often found greeting members and guests on a Sunday morning. In his youth, he was the 1954 AAU National Trampoline Champion, 1954 Canadian National Trampoline Champion, and the 1955 US Senior National Trampoline Champion as a member of the Maverick Boy's Club. He loved dirt track racing and enjoyed watching his son and grandson continue in his tradition while acting as Crew Chief of the Elliott Racing Team. He is survived by his children, Sherrie, Scott, Steve, Shane, and Shandy Elliott; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Carl Elliott; and wife Lura, and Howard Elliott; and 2 sisters, Lynnell Hodel and Jean Lahars. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mac Elaine McFarland Elliott.
