Roberto Ignacio Perez

Roberto Perez, 62, of Amarillo, died Monday, September 23, 2019. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm Friday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Dr. At 6:00 pm Friday, there will be Celebration of Life at the funeral home. Roberto was born July 31, 1957 in Matanzas, Cuba to Roberto and Engracia Perez. He graduated from high school and college in Cuba. He served in the Cuban Army, before coming to the United States in 1980. He worked for Heritage Convalescent Center for 17 years as a custodian. In his spare time, Roberto enjoyed BBQ’s with family and friends. He loved his music and dancing. He enjoyed traveling to San Antonio to visit family. Roberto was always the life of the party, and he enjoyed being the center of attention. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Roberto was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph Hernandez, and Harold Hernandez; and a sister, Eva Hernandez. Survivors include his wife, Freda Hernandez; his God-son, Julian Hernandez; six brothers, George Hernandez, Lawrence Hernandez, Napolean Hernandez, Agapito Hernandez, Sammy Apodaca, and Domingo Hernandez; four sisters, Bre Cortinas, Rachel Carrillo, Ruth Watson, and Dorothy Hernandez; two grandchildren, Ray-Ray and Gordo.
