Roger Carl Brown Sr.

December 28, 1936 — April 26, 2022

Amarillo

Roger Carl Brown of Bushland, TX passed away on April 26, 2022. Carl was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran of the US Army.  Carl was born on December 28, 1936 in Hollis, OK to Austella and Silas Brown.  He was raised in Quitaque, TX with his brothers and sisters.

Carl graduated from Quitaque High School in 1955 and was an exceptional athlete in various sports.  After graduating high school, Carl entered the Army and was deployed to Germany where he served as a sniper and reached the rank of Private First Class.  Upon returning home Carl met Bertha Fuller in 1961, married shortly thereafter and then proceeded to have their three loving sons Roger, Brett, and Danny.  Carl and Bertha celebrated their 60 year anniversary October 2021.

He worked as a carpenter and builder for his entire career.  He loved to take his sons and grandsons fishing and hunting.   He also enjoyed taking Bertha to Las Vegas regularly.  Carl was known for his keen sense of humor and ability to tell stories; he had a heart of gold for all the people he loved and was an extremely generous man that never asked for anything in return.  His wisdom and kindness will be greatly missed and there will forever be a void in our lives without him.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents and his son Roger Brown.  He is survived by his wife, Bertha Brown, his sons Brett Brown, wife Terresa and Danny Brown, wife Shelby and his brothers Butch Brown, Benny Brown, sisters Pat Rhoderick, Melanie Camp, his grandchildren Sloane Brown, Sarah Jane Brown, Luke Brown, Nik Brown, Nicole Pike, Chandra Higgs, Chris Higgs, Brittany Daniel, Keysha Cummings, Brandie Brown, Josh Brown and 15 great grandchildren.

A viewing is scheduled for April 28, 2022 from 6-8 pm at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home at 4180 Canyon Drive. A celebration of Carl's life will be Friday, April 29 at 10am at First Baptist Church on 116 Morris Street in Quitaque, TX.
