Amarillo

Roland Taylor I, 69, of Amarillo, graduated to the Glory of Heaven to be with Jesus on Saturday, March 21, 2020. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Roland was born December 1, 1950 in Slaton, Texas to Bill and Paula Taylor. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1968. He married the love of his life Sharlene Irwin on October 23, 1970 in Oklahoma. Roland owned and operated Buck’s Garage for 46 years. The garage was more than an occupation to Roland. He used his business as a ministry, helping people on weekends and holidays if needed. He loved cars, woodworking, working with his hands, and could build or fix anything. He continued educating himself as well as training students in his trade throughout his career. He was an avid follower of politics, both local and national, and was a very conservative Republican. Roland enjoyed bowling and watching sports. He was a devout family man, and his family meant everything to him. He was a longtime member of Amarillo Bible Church. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Roland was preceded in death by his parents; and a granddaughter, Karlie Hope Taylor-Restine. Survivors include his wife, Sharlene Taylor; three daughters, Kimberly Taylor, Amy Taylor-Restine and husband Karl, and Karri Ann Billstrom and husband Eric all of Amarillo; a son, Roland “Tooter” Taylor II and wife Jenny of Amarillo; a brother, W.H. Bill Taylor and wife Connie of Pope, MS; 19 grandchildren, Seth, Whitnie, Kassidy, Molly, Kandace, Amberly, Austin, Clinten, Jorden, Kuyler, Lacie, Roland III, Wesley, Caleb, Joshua, William, Jonathan, Christian, and Trinity; and 14 great-grandchildren, Kallie, Noah, Jobe, Lincoln, Tadleigh, James, Tucker, Clinton, Addie, Axl, Elody, Hazely, Cooper, a baby boy on the way; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. The family suggests memorials may be made to The Loft Church Student and Kids’ Ministries, 4400 Georgia St. Amarillo, TX 79110.
