Ron L. Smith

May 20, 1956 — August 1, 2025

Amarillo

Ronald Lee Smith, 69, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on August 1, 2025, in Amarillo. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home. Services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Trinity Fellowship Church West Auditorium, 5000 Hollywood Road, with Pastor Kyle Wilkinson and Pastor Garvin McCarrell officiating.

Ron was born on May 20, 1956, in Dumas, Texas, to Joe Ed Smith and Mary Clark Smith, and was lovingly raised by his mother and stepfather, Fred Crawford. Ron graduated from Perryton High School and went on to attend Texas Tech University and West Texas State University where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration.

Throughout his career, mainly in sales roles, he worked for various companies such as Warren Cat, Ben E. Keith, and finally retired from Cummins on September 30, 2022. He was known in the business world for his strong work ethic, attention to detail and excelled in customer relationship development by always finding his customers’ needs and providing solutions.

On January 3, 1976, Ron married Cynthia “Cindy” Berner of Spearman, Texas. Together, they had three beautiful daughters of whom he was incredibly proud. Together, Ron and Cindy built a life filled with love, family, and community. They were married for 49 years. Ron was an active member of the Amarillo Area Corvette Club and had a passion for cars, specifically Corvettes. He enjoyed taking care of his immaculate yard and spending time with his beloved dog, Moxey Lu. He was an avid news junkie, novel reader and a longtime member of Trinity Fellowship Church in Amarillo. Ron was many things; stubborn, loyal, unapologetically himself and passionate. He had a knack for making people feel seen and cared for.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Eddy Smith.

He is survived by his wife Cindy Smith of Amarillo; three daughters Keisha Dawson and husband Brennin of Amarillo, Shea Berner and partner Brian Tinder of Flagstaff, Arizona, and Brynn Beasley and husband Chance of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, Brox Dawson, Keagon Dawson, Taylor Beasley, Jordyn Beasley, Nora Tinder, Charlize Tinder, and Aliza Tinder; and many other extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Amarillo Area Corvette Club, (P.O. Box 2201 Amarillo, TX 79105) which supports Our Children’s Blessing and the Palo Duro High School ROTC program.
