Ronald Ogden Boothe

August 23, 1935 — February 24, 2022

Amarillo

Ronald Ogden Boothe of Amarillo, Texas passed away peacefully on February 24, 2022.  No services are scheduled at this time. Ron was born on August 23, 1935 in Dimmitt, Texas to Clarence Andrew (C.A.) and Winnie Boothe.  When Ron was a boy, he and his family moved from Floydada to Canyon, Texas where he attended school and graduated high school in 1953.  After graduation, Ron enlisted in the Army and served both in Germany and San Francisco.  After leaving the Army he attended West Texas State College where he was an Industrial Arts Major.  Ron met the love of his life, Judie Bowlin on a blind date February 28, 1962 and they married in November that same year.

Ron was a Production Engineer for Bell Helicopter in Amarillo, and then in 1975 Ron and Judie purchased the Fountain of Health Natural Food store.  Ron loved working at the store and became friends with many of the customers he compassionately assisted over the years. It was common for almost anyone who met Ron to let his family know what a kind, gentle and caring man he was - to know him was to love him.

Ron fully retired from the Fountain of Health in 2011.  Creativity came naturally to Ron and as a lover of art, he spent most of his days in retirement at his beloved home working on various art projects such as making furniture, painting, “tinkering” as he liked to call it, listening to music and watching the birds.  Ron was the quintessential gentleman and an extraordinary husband, father, friend and neighbor. He touched many lives and his constant smile, gentle spirit, caring heart and sense of humor will be greatly missed.

Ron is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judie Boothe of Amarillo, his daughter Marci van der Meulen (Boothe) and her husband Leslie of Omaha, Nebraska, brother Phillip Boothe and wife Elnora of Amarillo, and many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents C.A. and Winnie Boothe, and brother Don.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
