Ronald D. Wingo

Ronald D. Wingo, 79, of Amarillo, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, from complications of COPD. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery.

Ron was born December 5, 1942 in Amarillo, Texas to Roy and Doris Wingo. He grew up in Pecos, Texas and graduated from Pecos High School. Ron married the love of his life, Pamela, on February 25, 1967 in Amarillo. He and Pam were longtime active members of Paramount Baptist Church for over 40 years. Ron worked for BNSF for 46 years, retiring in 2011. In his spare time, Ron loved listening to music. He was a Bible scholar, and loved reading and studying the Word of God. He enjoyed being a part of the men’s Bible study group at church. Ron was the picture of a family man. He lovingly cared for Pam during a long illness until her death in 2016. He was known as Gumpy to his grandchildren, and he had a close relationship with both of them. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pamela Wingo; and an infant daughter, Stacy Renee Wingo.

Survivors include a daughter, Wendy Bennett and husband William of Amarillo; a son, Bill White and wife Cynthia of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Steffani Wingo Bennett of Dallas, and Caleb White and wife Tyler of Sioux Falls, SD; a step-grandson, Levi Bennett of San Angelo; a brother, Donald Wingo of Killeen, TX; and two brothers-in-law, Danny Tiller and wife Angie of Amarillo, and Darryl Tiller and wife Linda of Norman, OK.
