Ronnie L. Mayfield

Ronnie was born Sept. 19, 1941, in Clovis, N.M., to Luther and Berniece Mayfield. He went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 27. Ronnie was a graduate of Grady High School and attended Eastern New Mexico University. He married Jackie McBroom on Nov. 19, 1960, in Amarillo. It was at that time that he started his own roofing business, Mayfield Roofing. While he was starting his business, Ronnie worked for the post office as well as Plains Creamery. He owned and operated Mayfield Roofing in Amarillo for more than 50 years. Ronnie was well respected in the construction industry in Amarillo during his career. He was looked at by many as the leader in his industry. Ronnie was known for his integrity, honesty as well as his incredible work ethic. He also served as a father figure to many of his employees who worked for him for many years. Ronnie was a family man. He was a devoted husband and dad. Most of all, he was a great "Grampy" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a great love for the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Jerry Dow Mayfield, in 1962. Survivors include his wife, Jackie of Amarillo; four daughters, Angela Hooley and husband Van, Cassandra Pelton, Sherrye Tijerina and husband Larry and Rita Mayfield and life partner David Carranza, all of Amarillo; a son, Kelly Mayfield also of Amarillo; his mother, Berniece Mayfield of Boise, Idaho; a sister, Jeanette Frazier and husband Rodney of Idaho; a brother, Edwin Mayfield of California; a cousin, Jody Addington Schade of Amarillo; 19 grandchildren, Deadra, Clinton, Lauren, Jared, Crystal, Nicholas, Cherica, Kristiaan, Kody, Kolin, Natausha, Jackie Lynn, Chance, Tausha, Chrissy, Michael, Steven, Ronnie and Trey; and 30 great-grandchildren.
