Rouena Montgomery

Rouena Fern Montgomery, 94, of Amarillo, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026. The family will host a celebration of life gathering on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Rouena was born on January 22, 1931, in Amarillo to Alvie and Elsie Burdine. She attended Amarillo High School. Rouena was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo and worked for several years at Pantex as a program planner before she retired. She also worked for Plains Chevrolet and Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 13 years. Rouena was an avid reader, who especially enjoyed reading mysteries and the Bible.

Rouena was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Anita Barnard. 

Survivors include her son, Joe Montgomery, and his wife, Jennifer, of Joshua Tree, California; stepdaughter, Connie Isambert; her sister, Raelene Talley, and her husband, Tommy, of Amarillo; her grandchildren,  Paul Montgomery, Tiffany Mathis and Cassie Montgomery; three great-grandsons, and one great-great-grandson.
