Rouena Montgomery

Rouena Fern Montgomery, 94, of Amarillo, passed away on Thursday January 8, 2026. The Family will host a Celebration of life gathering on Tuesday January 13, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Rouena was born on January 22, 1931 in Amarillo to Alvie and Elsie Burdine. She attended Amarillo high school. Rouena was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo and worked for several years at Pantex for a program planner before she retired.

She also worked for Plains Chevrolet and South Western Bell Telephone Company for 13 years. Rouena was an avid reader, who specifically enjoyed reading mysteries and the bible.

Rouena was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Anita Benard. Survivors include her son, Joe Montgomery and his wife, Jennifer, of Joshua Tree, California; Step daughter, Connie Isambert, her sister, Raelene Talley and her husband, Tommy, of Amarillo; 2 grandchildren; Tiffany Mathis and Joe Montgomery Jr., Cassie Montgomery; three great grandchildren
