Roy Armstrong, 85, died Monday, March 3, 2014.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Trinity Fellowship North Campus, 1503 E. Willow Creek Drive, with Pastor Bo Williams officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Roy was born Aug. 23, 1928, in Amarillo to E.W. and Adelle Armstrong. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1946 before marrying Dean Trimble on Dec. 13 that same year. Roy enlisted in the Army in 1946, where he faithfully served until his honorable discharge in 1949.
Upon his discharge, Roy enlisted in the Air Force, where he served until 1956. Roy married Connie McLaughlin on Feb. 10, 1966. She preceded him in death in 2000. He then married Mary Beth Drerup on March 10, 2001.
Roy established and operated Rocon Tire since September 1967. He loved the outdoors where he enjoyed raising horses, ranching and hunting. He was a devoted member and elder of River Road Fellowship Church, which later became Trinity Fellowship North Campus, where he faithfully continued to serve as an elder.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons; two great-
granddaughters; and two sisters, Leta Cobb and Thelma Sauders.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Beth Armstrong of Amarillo; seven sons, Michael Armstrong and wife Susan, Tom Armstrong and wife Kathy, Mitchell Armstrong and wife Peggy, Brendon Drerup and wife Sharla, Jerome Drerup and wife Brenda, Anthony Drerup and wife Sunny and Phillip Drerup and wife Jefreann, all of Amarillo; four daughters, Pattie Pratt and husband Les, Cathey Fredrick and husband Bill and Shirley Armstrong, all of Amarillo, and Shelly Culver and husband Greg of Waco; a brother, Lee Armstrong and wife Shirley of Amarillo; 34 grandchildren; 58 great-
grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Trinity Fellowship North Campus Kingdom Builders Fund.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
