Roy Clayton Brown, 77, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on May 28, 2026. A Celebration of his Life will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2026 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive, Amarillo, Texas 79109.
Roy was born in Memphis, Texas to Roy and Ella Brown. He attended Hedley High School in Hedley, Texas. Following graduation, Roy obtained his CDL and began a long and dedicated career as a truck driver. He was a hard-working man who took great pride in providing for his family.
On May 13, 2000, Roy married the love of his life, Sharon Burke, in Amarillo, Texas. Together they shared 26 years of love and devotion.
Roy was truly one of the kindest people in the World. He lived a life filled with love, honor, and service to others. He had a servant’s heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Though his work often kept him on the road, Roy always made time for his family. He was a devoted father and stepfather who never missed a football game, proudly coached track, and remained a constant and unwavering presence in the lives of his children.
Roy was an avid coin and train collector and was well known for his famous fried potatoes, beans, and cornbread. His kindness, dedication, and dependable nature will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his adored wife, Sharon Brown of the home; his son, Lesley Brown of Oklahoma; stepdaughters, Cheryl Hall of Amarillo, Texas and Tracy Grisham and husband David of Fritch, Texas; stepson, Stephen Stratton and wife Rhonda of Crowley, Texas; sisters, Gracie Burkhalter of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Helen Ford of Clarendon, Texas; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ella Brown; his daughter, Teresa Brown; his brother, Johnny Brown; his sisters, Marie Norton and Kay Miller; and his son-in-law, Jerry Hall.
Roy’s legacy of kindness, loyalty, and love for his family will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
