Roy Sparkman

Roy Sparkman, 86, of Amarillo, died Friday, January 5, 2018. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday at Cox Funeral Home - Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Dr. Burial will be at 3:00 pm at Fairmont Cemetery in Hollis, Okla. Roy was born December 22, 1931 in Childress to Tolbert and Frankie Sparkman. He graduated from Childress High School, and attended Amarillo College. Roy proudly served in the U.S. Paratroopers from 1951-1955. He married Patsy Christian on June 28, 1955 at Clovis. Roy worked as a carpet installer for Alamo Carpet and Casey Carpet One for many years. He was a member of the Radio Control Airplane Club. He enjoyed building and flying the airplanes. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Virginia Perry. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Patsy Sparkman; three sons, Roy Lee Sparkman, Jr. of Cleburne, Oliver Kent Sparkman and wife Andrea of Georgetown, and Patrick Sparkman and wife Robin of San Diego; a brother, Gene Sparkman and wife Carlene of The Woodlands; and two grandchildren.
