Ruby Moore, 92, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024. No services are being held at this time.
Ruby was born October 9, 1932 in Olton, Texas to H.C. and Cloe Durham. She grew up in Olton, Texas. Ruby married the love of her life, Johnnie Moore on January 20, 1951. They celebrated 71 years of marriage just days before Johnnie’s passing in January of 2022. Together, they raised two children, Darlene and Sammy.
Early on, Ruby worked as a beautician before going to work for AQHA, and later the Paint Horse Association. Ruby and Johnnie donated countless hours over the years, volunteering for Bethesda Outreach. They were members of Trinity Fellowship Church. Ruby enjoyed listening to gospel music, country music, and most especially Kingdom Keys Radio. She was a talented seamstress, and sewed many of Darlene’s clothes when she was growing up. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
Ruby will be remembered for her kind nature and love for people. She adored her family and valued the time she was able to spend with them. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Johnnie Moore; and a brother, Clinton Durham.
Survivors include her daughter, Darlene Burroughs and husband Bo of Amarillo; her son, Sammy Moore and wife, Suzanne of Amarillo; two sisters, Lena Hackler of Grand Junction, CO, and Hattie Jolly and husband Bubs of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Michelle Brown and husband Kory, Kevin Burroughs, Stephanie Moore, Jessica Snyder and husband Jeff, and Sarah Gutierrez and husband Lee; eight great-grandchildren, Anthony, Kylee, Jordan, Billy, Chloe, Kaylyn, Kagan, and Kingston; and six great-great-grandchildren, Zaylee, Madelyne, Bella Mae, Weston, Bailey and Ryker, and three more on the way.
The family suggests memorial donations may be made to Kingdom Keys Radio.
