Ruth Annelle (Current) Yates

Ruth Annelle Current Yates, 75, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Monday, November 4, 2024 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas.

Ruth was born July 9, 1949 in Lubbock, Texas to Darrell “Chick” and Ruth Current. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1967, and went on to study at Amarillo College. She then earned her RN certification from Northwest Texas Hospital School of Nursing 1971. She worked as a nurse at Northwest Texas Medical Center and Jan Werner Adult Day Care, retiring in 2016. She was very dedicated to her patients and wanted to be the best nurse possible.

Ruth attended the Church of Christ and enjoyed singing in the choir. She also loved to travel. She was a devoted daughter and a true friend to many. She would always be the first one to help anyone in need.

She was preceded in death by her mother Ruth Conley Current.

Survivors include her father Darrell “Chick” Current; her son, Cody Teague; her siblings, David K. Current and wife Gayline of Allen, TX; her nephew, David C. Current, wife Misty and daughter Ellie; her niece, Tracy Eldridge, husband Derek and their children Kent and Conley.
