Ruth Evelyn Young

Ruth was born April 16, 1938 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to William and Mary Obermeyer. She Married Richard Young on June 8, 1956. They raised their children in Minnesota before moving to Amarillo. Richard and Ruth started their own business, Hi Plains Systems. She continued to manage the business until December of 2012. They were longtime devoted members of St. Mary's Catholic Cathedral. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Richard of 58 years, three children, Rick, David, and Bill and by two siblings, Mary Ellen and Alice. She is survived by her children, Tom Young and wife Janice of Amarillo, Chris Young and wife Dawn of Amarillo, Jerry Young of Maple Plain, MN and Mary Melendez and husband Damian of Amarillo, her sister, Marilyn Erickson as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will especially be missed by her little friend, Alli.
