Ruthie Briant, 81, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, March 3, 2020. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Friday at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, 316 Valley Ave. with Rev. Bob Heidecker officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Ruthie was born January 23, 1939 in Estelline, Texas to Sherman and Josie Worth. She married William “Bub” Briant on January 22, 1959 in Amarillo. Ruthie owned Sagebrush Truck Stop in Childress in the 1970’s. She worked for Doche Cleaners, and waitressed for numerous truck stops including the Valley Café. She also worked as a substitute teacher for River Road ISD. Ruthie was an avid reader and sports fanatic. She enjoyed travelling with her husband and family. She loved cooking for her friends and family. Her favorite thing was Saturday night dinners with everyone. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo and gambling. She loved spending time with her grandkids and attending family events with them. Family was by far the biggest joy in her life. Ruthie will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bub” Briant; a daughter-in-law, Wendy Briant; a sister and brother-in-law, Lou Ella and Bill Wilson; and a brother-in-law, Warren Leonard. Survivors include three sons, Franklin “David” Briant and wife Myong, Rodney Briant and wife Amber, and William “Chad” Briant all of Amarillo; four daughters, Sammie Pierce and husband Michael, Martha Vines and husband Kenny, Penny Rosson and husband Johnny all of Amarillo, and Candy Burrell and husband Bill of Saratoga Springs, UT; three sisters, Mary Board, and Doris Littau and husband Dick all of Amarillo, and Cindy Leonard of Joshua Tree, CA; two brothers, James Worth and wife Dutch and Eddie Worth and wife Jo all of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial donations may be made to Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church- Children’s Ministry, 316 Valley Ave. Amarillo, TX, 79108.
