Ruthie Mae Poynor

Ruthie Mae Poynor finished her earthly race and passed away March 6, 2019 at the age of 73. Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 11:00 am at God of Wonders Fellowship with Pastor Randy Srader officiating and arrangements by Cox Funeral Home.

Ruthie was born in Shamrock, TX on October 5, 1945. The family moved to Amarillo in 1956 and she graduated from Caprock High School in 1964.

Ruthie worked for many years in the grocery industry.  She went to work for Randall County in Motor Vehicles in 1989 and retired from Randall County as Voter Registration Manager in November 2012 after 23 years of service.

Ruthie loved the Lord and was a charter member of God of Wonders Fellowship. She worked part-time as church secretary after retiring. Ruthie was actively involved in many ministries over the years and had a special love for her Haven sister’s, children’s ministry, Glow Angels and Carenet. Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family, especially at holidays.  She also enjoyed reading Scripture, attending musicals and plays and watching cooking shows.

Ruthie was preceded in death by her precious daughter Terri Huestis, her parents I.V Morris and Lorene Morris; and a sister Linda Montgomery.

She is survived by a daughter Natalie Lowe and son-in-law L.B. Lowe of Amarillo ; a son Mike Dobbins and daughter-in-law Terri Dobbins of Amarillo; Son-in-law Shane Huestis of Tuscola, TX; a sister Barbara Cross and husband Richard of Dumas; and a brother Doug Morris and wife Yolanda of Amarillo; 8 grandchildren; Lori Dobbins of Newkirk, Oklahoma; Marissa Lowe, Amanda Lowe, Kayla Lowe, Chelsea Smith, Keely Dobbins, and Taylor Huestis of Amarillo and Lexi Huestis of Buda, TX. 3 very special great-grandchildren Reigan, Talyon and Emma plus many extended family and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers; the family suggest memorials to the children’s ministry playground project or the mission outreach ministry at God of Wonders Fellowship, 1924 S. Polk, Amarillo, TX 79109
