Samuel Perdigan, 83, of Amarillo passed away March 5, 2022. Celebration of life services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Wednesday March 9, 2022 at Llano Cemetery Mausoleum. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.
Although Sam was born and raised in Hawaii, he made it to true paradise as soon as he could, moving to Texas when he joined the Air Force and was stationed at Amarillo Air Force Base. It was in Amarillo that Sam would meet Barbara, the love of his life, whom he married in 1960 and waited on hand and foot throughout his life. During his military service, Sam was able to travel the world, moving to places such as Hawaii, Greece, and New York before returning to Amarillo with his family upon his retirement.
Sam was the picture of a beloved family man, going on adventures with his grandchildren, organizing surprise family game days, teaching his children and grandchildren everything from tying their shoes to riding a bike to driving a car. In fact, right after Sam retired from his job at Owens Corning, he spent the summer building a treehouse in his backyard for his grandchildren who adored him. Sam lived a life of service –to his country, his friends, and his family. Friends of Sam’s loved ones used to joke that they wished they could have a “Papa” in their life because he took care of his own so well. There was not a game or event that Sam missed, no gas tank he wouldn’t fill, no distance he wasn’t willing to travel to be there for his family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Agripino and Margarita Perdigan; a sister, Maria Nives Cua; and his beloved wife of 60 years, Barbara Perdigan.
Survivors include his two daughters, Laura Boyd and husband Tom of Amarillo, TX; Angela Trogden of Fritch, TX; four grandchildren, Bethany Wisotzkey and husband Charles of Phoenix, AZ; Samuel Moore and wife Channing of Phoenix, AZ; Hailee Perales of Amarillo, TX; Clarissa Boyd of Phoenix, AZ; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Darling Siplon and husband Ben of California.
