Sandra Jorene (Hunter) Witherspoon

Sandra Jorene Witherspoon, 82, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, February 6th, 2022.  Celebration of Life Service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, 1601 I-40 West, at 2:00 pm Friday, February 11th with Derek Hall officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Sandra was born March 15th, 1939 in Hollis, OK, to T.H. and Bernece Hunter.  She was raised on a farm between Gould and Eldorado, OK.  Sandra grew up driving the tractor and working in the fields, pulling cotton.  She graduated high school from Gould in 1957.  Sandra attended business school in Oklahoma City and then moved to Amarillo, Texas, where she met and married, Harlan Witherspoon in 1960.

She worked for Southwestern Investment Company (SIC) from 1958 through 1987.  Sandra retired in 2001 from The Clements Unit where she worked for 14 years.

Sandra enjoyed being with her family, traveling, shopping and site seeing.  She traveled a lot with her mother and sister.  Sandra loved cats and always fed the strays in her neighborhood.  In her later years, she always had a cat around the house.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Harlan.

Sandra is survived by her children Jeff and wife Melody Witherspoon of Amarillo, TX; Pamela and husband Jeff Sims of Graham, TX; Sister Brenda Shilling of Goodwill, OK. Grandchildren Hunter and wife Jenn Witherspoon; Cheston and wife Cynthia Taylor; Bridgette and husband Jacob West; Travis Taylor.  Great-grandchildren Leevi, Heath, Isaac and Caroline.  In addition to several nephews, nieces and cousins.

Her children will rise and call her blessed.  Proverbs 31:28
