Sarah Fansler, 84, of Amarillo passed away on November 18, 2024. Celebration of Life Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Wednesday December 4, 2024 at Trinity Fellowship- North Campus, 503 E. Willow Creek Drive with Pastor Bo Williams officiating.

Sarah was born December 28, 1939 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Maxine and Leon Barnard. She attended and graduated from Amarillo High School. Sarah met and married David L Fansler Jr on June 8, 1959 at San Jacinto Methodist Church. Together they shared two amazing children and many memories. She was a very strong woman, even with her health issues and dependent on oxygen full time, she always kept up. Sarah was a kind hearted woman, always willing to help with anything for anyone. She was always there for her family when they needed her, she sacrificed her wants to give to her family, and she always put us first. Sarah enjoyed reading books, and after not getting out much spent time doing so and watching TBN, and eating lots of sweets. Sarah had spunk, which she had to have with her bunch. She was a hard worker, she worked at Pantex for over 27 years. Sarah was a good cook, which she learned from her mother, it was said she made the best mashed potatoes in the world per her grandsons. Sarah was the go to person for taxi service, running errands for the family, picking her great grandsons up from school, then would take them home with her and bake cookies and play card games, and many occasions stopped and got ice cream, or whatever they wanted to be happy.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and aunt. Sarah loved her family, most of all she loved the Lord and had a servant’s heart.  She attended many churches in Amarillo, San Jacinto Methodist, then San Jacinto Baptist, which later became Quail Creek, then later in life she attended Trinity Fellowship where her children and grandchildren attended, and she belonged to the Warriors Bible Study Group and the Hebraic Roots study group.  Sarah was a real example of having a servant’s heart, she mentored students at Eastridge Elementary helping bi lingual students with reading, and she also got involved with a church outreach, where she allowed 3 teenage boys from Ukraine come live with her over the summer. Sarah had to become a lover of animals usually because her family would dump theirs on her, or a stray would adopt her and she would take them in and care for them. One particular was an orange cat that had a broken tail, she named him Morris, and they were the best of buds until she had to put him down due to health problems. Sarah loved spending time with her family and friends, and enjoyed traveling, mainly to take her mother and go visit her sister wherever she was stationed. Sarah was truly one of a kind, she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, William Baucum; the father of her children, David L Fansler Jr, her brother L.B. Barnard; her grandson, Brandon Fansler.
