Scharlene Yandell Morris

Scharlene Morris, 93, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021 in Amarillo. No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home. Scharlene was born on July 13, 1927 in Slaton to Archie and Birdie Yandell. She worked as a bookkeeper for Citizens State Bank in Slaton and Wholesale House. Scharlene and her husband, OD Morris built and ran the Wing Ding Drive-In of Slaton. Scharlene was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Slaton. She was a dedicated artist and was proficient in oil painting and pencil drawings, specifically landscapes. Scharlene was fortunate enough to donate one of her paintings to the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum in Waco. Scharlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, OD Morris; one brother, Ray Yandell; one sister, Ruth Strube; one grandson, Adrian Mitchell. Survivors include her two daughters, Donna Morris of Amarillo and Linda Morris of Robinson; two grandchildren.
