In Loving Memory

Shawn Moonray Sanchez

March 27, 2011 - November 18, 2025

It is with the heaviest of hearts, shattered spirits, and unimaginable grief as the Montes, Silva, Sanchez, and Silguero Families share the devastating and unexpected passing of Shawn Moonray Sanchez, who at 14 years old, was called home far too soon into the loving arms of our Lord on November 18, 2025. The news of Shawn’s passing has left his family, his friends, his school, and his entire community in deep disbelief and endless tears, grappling with a loss that no one was prepared for and a silence that feels unbearably loud.

Shawn was born on March 27, 2011, in Corpus Christi, Texas, and from the moment he entered this world, he brought a light so bright that it changed the lives of all who loved him. He was the blessed son of Stephanie Silva Montes, who adored him beyond measure, and grew up surrounded by a family who cherished him wholeheartedly. Though he was only with us for fourteen short years, the impact he made will forever ripple through the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. Shawn was a lifelong resident of Robstown, Texas, as he was also a Christian young man whose gentle soul radiated kindness. He was a freshman at Robstown Early College High School, excited for the future that laid ahead, full of dreams, possibilities, and moments he never got the chance to live. He was your typical teenage boy with an extraordinary spirit who loved video games, who could spend hours laughing and talking with his friends, who enjoyed playing basketball and football, who found joy in simple moments, and who treasured every memory he made with his family. Shawn had a smile that could brighten the darkest room, a laugh that could lift the heaviest heart, and a presence that made everyone around him feel valued and loved. He never realized how many people looked up to him, how many admired him, or how deeply he was loved. Shawn’s sudden passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, a pain that words fail to describe, and a wound that time may never fully heal.

As heartbreaking as it is to accept, Shawn now goes home to our Lord in Heaven to be reunited once again with his beloved grandmother, Maria Rios, who preceded him in death. We take comfort in knowing that she has welcomed him with open arms, embracing him with the same love she gave him on earth.

Shawn leaves behind a lifetime of memories, moments frozen in time, as his memories will live on in the hearts of his heartbroken mother, Stephanie (Anthony) Montes; his grandparents, Mark and Lisa Silguero, Asteven Silva, Gumercindo and Delia Montes, and Ray and Irma Sanchez; his siblings, Serenity Sanchez, Syrina Sanchez, Anthony Montes Jr., Andres Montes, Oliver Sanchez, Jaymes Sanchez, Tyler Sanchez, Leiah Sanchez, Steven Sanchez Jr., Lilith Sanchez, and Jensen Sanchez. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, classmates, and friends, as each of them will carry their own special memory of him, each mourning the loss of a young life taken far too soon, each wishing for one more hug, one more laugh, and one more moment with him.

To lose a child, to lose Shawn is to have the world tilt off its axis. Shawn’s family will continue to walk forward with broken hearts, clinging to their faith, to one another, and to the hope that someday, in God’s time, they will see him again. Until then, his memory will be carried in every whispered prayer, every tear shed, and every heartbeat that aches for the boy who meant so much to so many.

Services will be private, as the family navigates this unimaginable grief and honors their beloved Shawn in a way that allows them to hold one another close during this deeply painful time.

Though Shawn’s time on earth was heartbreakingly short, his love, his laughter, and his gentle spirit will live forever in the hearts of those who knew him. Shawn’s life was a gift, his presence a blessing, and his memory a treasure that will never fade.
