Sherry Plummer, 76, of Lubbock, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026 in Amarillo, Texas. Celebration of Life Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Washington Ave. Christian Church, 3800 S. Washington St. in Amarillo.
Sherry was born August 26, 1950 and was adopted by her loving parents, S. J. “Jack” and Clarice McCandless. She was an only child and was doted on by her parents. She grew up in Lorenzo, Texas and graduated from high school there. Sherry has lived in Lubbock for many years and made her career at Energas, later Atmos Energy. Following her time there, she worked for NTS Communications.
Sherry was a talented quilter and made many beautiful pieces over the years. She enjoyed cooking, especially making the favorites for all of her “babies”. Sherry was known to her family and everyone who knew her as “Memaw”. She was a constant presence in the lives of her family, present for every ball game or life event. Anything that was important in her family’s life, she was there for. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her grandson, Joshua Sherman.
Survivors include her son, Kelly Sherman (Tammy) of Abernathy; her daughter, Stacy McAfee (J.W. Hollabaugh) of Amarillo; her grandchildren, Tyler Riddle (Leslie), Kyley Sherman and Kameron Gibson (Chase); her great-grandchildren, Boston and Kenzlie Riddle; and her best friend, Lynn Keener.
The family suggests memorial donations may be made to BSA Hospice of the Southwest.
