Dr. Murray Gossett officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
Sherry was born March 8, 1957 in Galesburg, Illinois to Cecil and Wanda Cole. She graduated from Palo Duro High School in Amarillo in 1975. She married the love of her life, Jerry Stapleton on May 2, 1981 and together they raised two sons, Jeremy and Jerrod. They enjoyed 36 years of marriage together until Jerry’s passing in 2018. Sherry worked for Children’s Learning Center for over 30 years. She started there as a teenager, and grew into a successful career there, serving as Enrollment Intake Supervisor. Following her time there, she also worked for Chicago Title and AIG, retiring in 2025.
Sherry dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was a loving wife, mother and granny. She loved the Lord and was a member of Arena of Life Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping for shoes, purses and blingy jewelry. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed baking and feeding her family. Sherry and Jerry enjoyed going dancing together. Sherry liked to watch cooking shows and Hallmark movies on TV. She was a big John Wayne fan and her favorite movie was McLintock, which she would watch over and over, able to quote pretty much the entire movie. She was funny, stubborn and had a quick wit. Most of all, Sherry adored her grandbabies and loved every bit of time she could spend with them. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Jerry Stapleton.
Survivors include two sons, Jeremy Stapleton and wife Andrea of Durango, CO, and Jerrod Stapleton and wife Kimberly of Amarillo; a sister, Patty Tucker and husband Martin of McLoud, OK; and her three grandbabies, Porter James Stapleton, Aspen Ray Stapleton and Kristian Stapleton.
