Shirley was born in Lubbock on September 27, 1938 to Howard Franklin and Opal Lavelle Parker. Shirley married Q.D. Bevill on November 17, 1954 and together they had 3 children. In 1974, she married Bill Sanders, who passed away in 1977, from an accident at Diamond Shamrock Refinery between Dumas and Sunray. Shirley's family was her life and she was affectionately known as "Meemaw." She lived in Dumas 29 years and was employed with Diamond Shamrock for 26 years, retiring in March of 1999. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Dumas. Shirley spent her last years in Amarillo.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Denise Vaughn and husband Chuck and Davida Mays and husband Richard; 3 granddaughters, Brandi Escoto and husband Stony and their son, Battle, Erica Bittle and James Bittle, the father of their children, Brayden and Parker, Brittany Vaughn and her children, twins, Bailee and Kaylee and Kolten; neice, Angie Hickmott and husband Brent and her family; step daughter, Julia Norcross and husband Ian and their daughter, Lea and step brother, J.W. Tuttle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Sanders; son, David Lynn Bevill; step sister, Shirley Tuttle Carricota and father of her children, Q.D. Bevill.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the March of Dimes or the American Cancer Association.
