Soon Up “Ann” Simmons, 80, of Amarillo, died Thursday, November 15, 2018. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday at Cox Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Dr. with Pastor Brandon Moore of Family Life Church officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Monday at the funeral home. Ann was born November 20, 1937 in Osaka, Japan. She married Joe Simmons, Sr. in September of 1962 in Seoul, Korea. They moved to the U.S. in 1968. Ann worked as a housekeeper for the Hilton Inn Airport and also as a steam press operator at Connie’s Alterations. She was a former member of Buchanan St. Baptist Church. Ann was an avid collector of kid’s toys. She loved hamburgers, and had a very strong sweet tooth. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The family suggests that friends and family should dress casually for the services. Ann was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Joe Simmons, Sr. Survivors include two sons, Joe Simmons, Jr. and wife Lisa of Amarillo, and Frank Simmons and wife Kelly of Lithia, FL; 5 grandchildren, Jerry Simmons and wife Kristina of Rapid City, SD, Jennifer Kisselburg and husband Robert of Amarillo, John Simmons and wife Cheryl of Midlothian, R.J. Simmons and Nicholas Simmons both of Lithia, FL; 7 great-grandchildren, Tatum, Caeden, Wesley, Jensen, Mackenzie, Emersyn, and Madelynn. The family suggests memorials may be made to 24 Hours in the Canyon at www.24hoursinthecanyon.org.
