Stacy Leigh Hedrick—whose life was defined by faith, joy and a steady, loving presence that surrounded her family with warmth, humor and kindness—passed away on April 30 at the age of 51. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6 at Amarillo Fellowship Church, 8425 Bell St., with Pastor Richie Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery. Stacy was born March 20, 1975 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio to Neal and Ellie Johnson. As the daughter of an active-duty U.S. Air Force father, she experienced a childhood shaped by travel and adventure, including time overseas, before her family returned to their native Colorado. Stacy graduated from Overland High School in Aurora, CO and earned a scholarship to play tennis at Colorado State University–Pueblo, where she received her bachelor’s degree in business marketing. She began her professional career in the Dallas area with Flexjet and later brought her energy and enthusiasm to the Amarillo Gorillas professional hockey team. But in the years that followed, Stacy found her greatest joy and purpose in her family. On February 16, 2006, she married the love of her life, Jay Hedrick. Together they built a home grounded in faith, laughter and unwavering love, and were devoted members of Amarillo Fellowship Church for the past 13 years. Stacy was an extraordinary mother. Her children—Hannah 19, Hayden 17 and Harper 15 —were the center of her world, and she poured herself into raising them with joy, encouragement and deep, steady devotion. She had a gift for making everyday moments feel special and for creating a home filled with warmth and connection. She loved being outdoors—gardening, traveling to the mountains and taking in the beauty of nature. In recent years, she discovered a passion for pickleball and embraced it fully. With her strong tennis background and competitive spirit, she became one of the top players in Amarillo, traveling to tournaments across the country. More than anything, she treasured the friendships and sense of community the game brought into her life. Stacy lived with a free spirit, an infectious optimism and an ever-present smile that lifted those around her. She loved deeply, laughed easily and found joy in sharing life with her family. She also adored her beloved Weimaraner, Blue. She will be profoundly missed by her husband, children, family, friends, church family and the many lives she touched. Stacy was preceded in death by her father, Neal Johnson. She is survived by her husband, Jay Hedrick; her daughters, Hannah Hedrick and Harper Hedrick; her son, Hayden Hedrick; her mother, Ellie Johnson; her sister, Caren Corliss and husband Paul; along with beloved nieces and nephews. The family suggests that memorial donations may be made to Amarillo Fellowship Church, 8425 Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79110.
