Steven Ray Woods, 74, of Amarillo passed away on May 12, 2024. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, May 18, 22024 at Llano Cemetery, 2900 S. Hayes. There will be an open viewing scheduled from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM Friday May 17, 2024 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Following the graveside services the family and friends are welcome to gather at Steve’s residence for food and fellowship.
Steve was born July 23, 1949 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to AG (Jack) and Vida Woods. He attended Goddard High School in Roswell, New Mexico. Steve went on the Eastern New Mexico University to obtain his Associates in Aviation Mechanics. He obtained his pilot’s license. Steve met and married the love of his life Dianna Hughes on June 3, 1972 in Roswell, New Mexico. Together they shared three beautiful children and 48 amazing years of marriage before her passing. Steve loved to stay busy, some would say he had ants in his pants. He was always fixing something, or doing yard work which he took great pride in, working with wood, to tinkering with his old Ford tractor. Steve loved to go camping with his children, going to different places in the camper. He enjoyed going to the lake with his family where they would all go boating, skiing, tubing, and even cliff diving. Steve and Dianna both found a passion for scuba diving, they would go any chance they could. He was a kind and sweet man, always giving a helping hand where needed. Steve will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Alan Woods; Mike Woods; his loving wife, Dianna.
Survivors include his son, Marc Woods and spouse Salem Goodman of Dallas, TX; two daughters, Anne Woods and spouse Stella Woods of Amarillo, TX; Melissa Woods of Roswell, New Mexico; his four grandchildren, Brieanna Woods; Chase Woods; Xander Woods; Zailey Woods; two step-grandchildren, Caigon Cook; Cheslee Cook and his only great-grandchild, Nash Woods; and his brother Paul Woods (Etta) of Ohio. Survivors also include a host of other family members and dear friends.
