Sue Arthur

Sue Arthur, 89, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive.

Sue was born December 27, 1936 in Wellington, Texas to Alfred and Allie Isaacs. She graduated from New Deal High School. She married her sweetheart, Weldon Arthur on September 28, 1955. They raised two daughters, Nancy and Susan and enjoyed 65 years of marriage together. Sue was a longtime member of Arden Road Baptist Church. Sue worked for Cabot Corporation in gas measurement, and retired in the mid-1990’s. The majority of her spare time was spent going to the baseball and soccer games of her grandkids and great-grandkids. She enjoyed making big family breakfasts as well. Sue cared for her great-granddaughters when they were little. She was a very kind and welcoming person who will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Weldon Arthur; her daughter, Susan Arthur; a great-grandson, Brecken Simpson; and three sisters, Joyce Carthel, Margaret Parker and Carolyn Deavours.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Simpson of Amarillo; two sisters, Jeannie Lemons and husband JB of Idalou, and Glenna Harris of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Billy Hennon, Shane Simpson and wife Ginna, and Blake Hennon; five great-grandchildren, Joseph Terven, Shelby Simpson, Camron Hennon, Gracelynne Simpson and Briggston Simpson.
