Susan "Susie" Boren

Susan (Susie) Boren, of Amarillo, passed away on September 15, 2025. Memorial services to honor Susie’s life will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Hillside Christian Church, located at 6100 S Soncy Rd, Amarillo, TX, 79119. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Susie was born on February 2, 1955, in Denver, Colorado, to Leroy and Zona Wire. She was a proud graduate of Hinkley High School, Class of 1973. Susie married John Boren on February 17th, 1973. In their 52 years of marriage, Susie and John built a life, raised a family, and traveled the country together. Susie was a homemaker for 16 years. She then went to work as a project manager at Pioneer General Contractors, where she worked for over 20 years and made lifelong friends. Susie took pride in being a loving and faithful wife, a nurturing and caring mother, and a fun and present Gran Gran. She was also a proud dog mom to her beloved “Patches.” Susie was training to serve with Meals on Wheels and was excited to make a difference in her community. Susie had a servant’s heart and will be remembered by her family and friends as one of the most humble and caring people they will ever have the blessing of knowing.

Susie was preceded by her parents and one brother, Jim Wire.

Survivors include her husband, John Boren, of the home; two sons, Justin Boren (Misty) and Jaden Boren (Berkeley); five grandchildren, Brooklyn, Britlee, Ace, Mia and Mazie; one brother, Robert "Bob" Wife (Marianne) of Taos, New Mexico. Survivors also include a host of extended family members and close friends.
