Susann Margaret Edler-Childress

Susann Margaret Edler-Childress passed away on October 29, 2022 at the age of 45 after a brief battle with renal cancer. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 3500 Bowie St. with Pastor Leah Lawson officiating.

Susann was born June 22, 1977 in Dalhart and raised in Amarillo, she went to the University of Texas at Austin on a music scholarship, graduating with a chemistry degree. She worked as an analytical chemist. In 2010, she was part of a team that patented a new carrier for oral pharmaceuticals; it is available over the counter at any pharmacy. In 2017 she received a master’s degree in data science from the University of Houston - Downtown, and spent the time since in the bioinformatics field, analyzing genetic testing data.

Susann was a lover of music, whether it be jazz, classical, or what she called "girl power punk." She loved cats, books, game nights, and cocktails with friends.

Susann was predeceased by her mother, Christine Edler; she is mourned by her husband, Edward Childress; father, Jon Edler; brother, Karl Edler, and family; and all others who knew her.
