Suzanne Ruth Hannum Burke, 85, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully to join her lord and savior on November 10, 2025.
Suzanne was born on November 7, 1940, in Amarillo, Texas, to Donald and Grace Hannum. She attended Amarillo High School and went on to graduate from Texas Tech University in 1962. In May of 1965, she married the love of her life, Richard “Dickie” Burke. As a proud Navy wife for 20 years, Suzanne embraced the challenges and adventures of military life while raising two very active boys.
She was well known for her delicious lasagna and chocolate chip cookies, which her family will always remember with love. She was a talented seamstress and found great joy in quilting, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her love and attention to detail. Suzanne’s warmth, creativity, and devotion to her family were evident in everything she did.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Grace Hannum; her sisters, Beverly Hannum and Sharon Hannum Seager; and two infant grandsons, Donald Alexander and John Rufus.
Suzanne is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Richard Burke; her sons, Ken (and wife Leeann) and Brendon; and her beloved grandchildren, Kendyl, Jacob, Kiralee, and Jarrett. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home in Amarillo. Graveside services will follow on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
Suzanne will be remembered for her loving spirit, her devotion to family, and the warmth she brought to every gathering.
