Amarillo

Sydna Mauri Doggett, 80, of Amarillo received her hallelujah day May 20, 2020. Due to the current community regulations regarding large gatherings, a private graveside service will take place Saturday, May 23, 2020, at Fairview Cemetery in Pampa with Pastor Lance Harrington officiating. Sydna will be available for viewing Friday, May 22, 2020, from 11:00am — 8:00 pm at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Sydna was born December 30, 1939, to Bob and Patty Morris in Pampa. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1958, and soon after her graduation she married her sweetheart Gene Doggett on October 18, 1958, at the United Methodist Church in Pampa. Sydna enjoyed traveling with her family, mostly in a motor home that she and Gene owned. They both traveled throughout the United States, but mostly enjoyed the south Texas area. Sydna loved wild flowers, especially bluebonnets. She was an amazing cook; her family said she could throw anything together. Her daughters remember her taking their friends under her wing and how she loved hosting them. Sydna loved her grandsons more than words could express. She always had a smile on her face, and had a joyful and sweet spirit. Her family remembers her as the constant greeter of the family, as she always said hello to anyone she came in contact with. Sydna was active and devoted to her church family, she was a constant volunteer. Her faith was the focus of her life; she has now gained her ultimate reward in Heaven through Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary Lee Mildren; and one brother, Bobby Morris.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Doggett of the home; two daughters, Connie Estes and husband Brad of Amarillo, Cheryl Huggins and husband Louis of Cedar Park; two grandsons, Kyler Estes and wife Whitney of Amarillo, and Tanner Estes and wife Samantha of Amarillo; three great-grandchildren, Kasen Estes, Caroline Estes, and Madeleine Estes. Survivors also include a host of nieces, nephews and many close friends.

In lieu of Flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to The American Alzheimer’s Associations at act.alz.org/donate‎.
