Sylvia Maria Wilson

Sylvia was born April 4, 1938 in Littlefield, TX to Garland and Clara Cox. She grew up in Hereford and graduated from Hereford High School in 1956. Sylvia married Obe J. "Pete" Wilson in 1956 and together they raised their five children. They owned Cox Farms Market and operated it as a family for several years. Later, Sylvia sold real estate for Jane Elliot ERA Realtors. After she retired, she moved to join her husband in McAllen, Texas where they lived until his death in 2005. They attended Calvary Baptist Church in McAllen, Texas. Sylvia cherished all of her kids, grandkids, and especially her great-grandkids and enjoyed playing games with them. She was an excellent cook and her husband brought friends and family to dinner often. Her door was always open to anyone for whatever they needed. She loved to spend time with people and she greeted everyone with a great big smile. Sylvia was a Christian and studied her bible daily, her walk with the Lord was very important to her. She taught a Children's Sunday School Class at South Georgia Baptist for many years and really enjoyed the kids. She was instrumental in bringing many to the Lord and it was a priority to her. Sylvia is survived by her children, Steve and Kelly Wilson, Ramona Wilson, Cindy and Gary White, and Sherry Daniel; her sister, Linda Trammel; her grandchildren, Brandy Lawes, Christin Thompson, Taran Roddy, Erik Wilson, Abby Hughes, Steffany Wilson, Jamie Wilson and Sean White; and 4 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Pete and son Michael, and her brother, Max Cox. The family suggests memorials be to COPD Foundation, 3300 Ponce De Leon Blvd, Miami, FL 33134.
