Terry Jean Thomas, 61, of Amarillo, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021. A Celebration of her life will be held on June 12, 2021 at 10:00 am at her home.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Rowley Funeral Home.

Terry was born on July 7, 1959 in Amarillo to James Eugene and Shirley Ann Dill. She worked for Buckner Children and Family Services for almost 40 years, in both the residential care program and after school daycare program.  Terry served as the program director for many years.   Terry had a deep compassion to help others and especially expressed this love for children in need. Terry gave her life to help troubled youth and children that came from difficult situations. She was outspoken and always told it to you straight. She liked to read, loved music, and spending time with her grandchildren by playing, coloring and telling them stories. She was loved by many and will be missed.

Terry was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Brenda Sue Roberts; and one son-in-law, Jason Lee Poisel.

Survivors include her daughter, Lindsey Poisel; one sister, Stephanie Johnson; best friend and buddy, Adam Johnson all from Amarillo; four grandchildren, Zane Perry, Mason Perry, Christopher Knight, and Felix Knight; a special cousin, Tonia Strain; two nieces, Brooke Roberts and Payton Sursa; one nephew, Gage Sursa and a host of other family members and friends.
