Thelma Lois Cherry

Thelma Lois Cherry, 75, died Monday, March 3, 2014. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Bell Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Logan officiating. Graveside services will follow at 4 p.m. in Restlawn Cemetery in Hereford. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Thelma was born July 3, 1938, in Borger to Robert Louie and Ethel Lee Patton. She married Herman Cherry in Borger on Feb. 14, 1964. Thelma enjoyed reading and never met a stranger. The lights of her life were her four grandchildren, who affectionately called her Gran. She was a member of Bell Avenue Baptist Church and loved the Lord with all of her heart. She touched the lives of everyone who was blessed to know her and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman Cherry; and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Jana Huseman and husband Kevin and Julie Edwards and husband Jody; four grandchildren, Kierstyn and Skyler Huseman and Jaylee and Jade Edwards, all of Amarillo; a sister, MaryLee Weidman; a brother, L.M. Patton and wife Mary Helen; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
