Tinkey Mayfield

Tinkey was born on April 27, 1939 in San Antonio to William and Myrt McKenzie. She was a graduate of Levelland High School and also graduated from West Texas State University as well as Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva, Oklahoma University with her Master's Degree in Education. She married Bill Mayfield on October 28, 1961 in Levelland. She started her teaching career in 1961 in Hereford. During her 37 year teaching career, she also taught in Farwell, Plainview College of Business, Gruver, Levelland, Sonora, Claude, Panhandle, Canyon and retired in 1998 from Happy. She also worked as a writer for the Electra Star News in Electra. Tinkey had a great love for education, teaching and working with children. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and always made sure that her family came first. She had a great love and spent many hours scrapbooking. She was an avid reader and was a great fan of the Dallas Mavericks. Her greatest love was being "Grandma" and "Ginny" to her grandchildren. She loved her Lord and was a member of Saint Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church. Tinkey was preceded in death by her parents, William McKenzie and Myrt and Willie Zinanni. She is survived by Her husband Bill Mayfield of Amarillo, One daughter, Jill Morphis and husband Dustin of Clyde, two sons, Ty Mayfield and wife Michelle and Tod Mayfield and wife Amanda all of Amarillo, one sister, Janice Lee and husband Bob of Wilson and one brother Bill McKenzie and wife Pat of Hawaii. She is also survived by her six grandchildren who she loved very much, Lauren, Brady, Claire, Chloe, Madi and Rayce and by two special friends Susan Rozen and Joe Holmes.
