Tommy Jack Slaughter

March 20, 1948 — June 16, 2017

Tommy Jack Slaughter, of Washburn, died Friday, June 16, 2017. Mr. Slaughter was born March 20, 1948 in Matador to Calvin and Tommie Jo Slaughter. He graduated from Dell City High School and attended McMurry University in Abilene. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Xcel Energy at the Nichols Station for 38 years before retiring in 2012. He married Dianne Gilbreth in 1994. Tommy adored his two children. He was very proud of their accomplishments. They remain one of his greatest achievements. He was a devoted son, brother, and husband. Tommy also loved his extended family and making people laugh. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in October of 2016. He joyously shared his newly found faith with many others up until the day he passed away. Tommy will be remembered, celebrated, and greatly missed. Survivors include his wife, Dianne Slaughter; a daughter, Stacy Reyes and husband Brian of Amarillo; a son, Dustin Slaughter and Azalea of San Marcos; a sister, Shirley Grider and husband Mitch of Lone Tree, CO; a brother, Robert Slaughter and wife Margaret of Pearce, AZ; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family suggests memorials be made to The Veteran's Administration online.
