Anthony “Tony” William Edwards, 65, of Amarillo, passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Monday, May 17, 2021 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with Gary House officiating.
Tony was born to Andy and Louise Edwards on July 7, 1955 in the old Tulia Hospital. He was raised on the family farm east of Tulia where he loved working with his father. Tony attended Tulia High School where he excelled in his studies and in athletics. He loved playing football. Tony was a High School All American in the sport and was actively sought by colleges across the country. He chose West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas. Although many larger schools courted him, West Texas offered something no other school could. At West Texas State Tony could come home on the weekends and help his dad on the farm. He married Sharon McDuffie on Valentine’s Day (February 14th) in 1997. Tony loved his family. He loved his Lord and he loved all those he came in contact with.
After graduating from West Texas State Tony went to work for Holly Sugar in Hereford, Texas where he continued until 1998. He then went to work for Silver Star Supply where he continued to work until his death. Tony passed from this world to abide in heavenly realms on May 12, 2021 in Amarillo, Texas surrounded by family and dear friends.
Tony is preceded in death by his father Andy, his mother Louise and his step-mother Jody.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Edwards; two sons, Daniel Edwards and wife Renee of Lubbock, and Clint Edwards of Amarillo; a daughter, Kara Baker and husband Joshua of Lubbock; a sister, Donna Starnes and husband Gary of Pampa; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eddie and Jacquelynn McDuffee; six grandchildren, Bradley Edwards, Colton Edwards, Beau Harper, Benjamin Baker, Rylan Baker, and Jase Baker; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Olivia’s Angels c/o BSA Hospice of the Southwest, 5211 SW 9th Ave. Ste. 100, Amarillo, TX 79106. Tony’s family would also like to extend a special thank you to his physicians, Dr. Ron Rankin, Dr. Randy Stewart and Dr. Morgan Leak, along with the BSA hospice in-patient nurses and staff.
